Podcasts

I like the Plus versions of the NPR podcasts with no ads and special editions occasionally for subscribers. Supporting NPR has been important to me anyway, so it’s nice to get these perks. I enjoy the others enough to endure the ads. How I use RSS feeds to download podcasts

A Slight Change of Plans: “Maya Shankar blends compassionate storytelling with the science of human behavior to help us understand who we are and who we become in the face of a big change.”

TED Radio Hour: “Exploring the biggest questions of our time with the help of the world’s greatest thinkers. Host Manoush Zomorodi inspires us to learn more about the world, our communities, and most importantly, ourselves.”

Kelly Corrigan Wonders: Personal Favorite. Kelly does great interviews! “On Tuesdays we release a long-form conversation with someone who knows something worth knowing. On Fridays, we share a short solo episode to pass along a bit of insight for the greater good and every Sunday morning we post a reading of a eulogy, toast, or speech sent in by one of our listeners.”

Axios Today: “Axios podcast host Niala Boodhoo digs deep with leaders you know — or need to know — in business, politics and culture. Every week, all in under 20 minutes.”

Short Wave: New discoveries, everyday mysteries, and the science behind the headlines — in just under 15 minutes. It’s science for everyone, using a lot of creativity and a little humor.

Science Friday: Variety of Science topics and current news/discoveries. Now everyday is Science Friday as they divide up what had been presented as a weekly 2-hour podcast into daily segments.

Throughline: Weekly where “we go back in time to understand the present” (1 hour)

Turning to The Mystics with James Finley: Several sessions over various mystics. Beginning September 2024, Season 10: T.S. Eliot - Four Quartets. This is a change of pace from the 9 previous mystics.

On Being with Krista Tippett: “Wisdom to replenish and orient. Conversations to live by.” I download from the website from time to time. There have been so many wonderful guests and the archive is well worth browsing.

Up First: News you need to start your day. The three biggest stories of the day, with reporting and analysis from NPR News — in 10 minutes and a special edition on Sunday

Origin Stories: Anthropology from Leakey Foundation (periodically)
